v one korat
« on: March 06, 2010, 09:46:17 PM »
I was looking at the internet hotel booking services and the V One Korat caught my eye, at 2,700baht per night it seemed a tad expensive for Nakhon Ratchasima, I mean Isaan peasants cant afford that can they :) so I looked a bit more, others have it listed at 1,600baht per night, thats a hell of a big difference, it sure does pay to look around when booking a hotel, but, is it any cheaper as a walk in?

Over the past 10 years I have found booking on line with an agent will save from 25% to 50% from what walk-ins pay and the sites of the hotels are also higher than the agents are. Also if you extend your stay go to the internet and make the booking before you go to the desk will save a lot that way too.

Strange that, my mate had to book a suite at the Montien Hotel here, on the hotel website booking page it was 19,000baht per night, it's 3 bedrooms etc, so he went to the hotel to book it, they quoted him 23,000baht per night, he explained about their website and the prices, they said that was only for internet bookings, he asked to use one of their computers to book it, they refused, so he went home and booked it from home, it was for a friend of his, what a strange way to do business.

I think it would be safer to use your home computer anyhow, who knows how up to date there software is. As public ID theft is getting pretty popular now a days I would not feel safe entering ID info on public wireless networks. Well TIT they sure do have there own way of doing things here and sometimes it is good to go with the flow. The booking agents have even better prices but are pretty strict on changes be sure to check the conditions.

I think he only asked about using their computer to show how stupid it was, obviously there are internet cafes every 100 meters but he wasn't going to use one of them.
