Tyres
« on: November 25, 2013, 04:57:25 PM »
Last week got 4 tyres 265/65-17 for the Pick up. As per original eqpt. - Bridgestone Dueller
Toyota wanted B8500 each and as a ball park this was confirmed with 3 other roadside stops.
Travelling towards Makro about 1/2 km away, on the frontage roads, before the traffic lights and far opposite the big white and orange block of condos.
No 389/1-2. Mittrapap Karnyang with a big MAXXIS sign above, (bigger than another adjacent one).
B5700 each - fitted, balanced with care and a free wheel alignment check.
And a free polo shirt.
Manager and wife speak some English and all quite excellent. Recommended.

We fitted Maxxis tyres to the pickup a while back and they been fine. Google to see just how popular they are around the world.

The Maxxis branch here in Nong Ki,seems to be quite expensive compared to the Bridgestone place virtually opposite each other on the main Highway 24

Hi. Don't know if this was a 'branch' of Maxxis. But they've got a Maxxis sign. Mine were Bridgestone and a really good price. ATB

Did you check out Good-Year next to the Mall?  I bought mine there and got a good price.  The owner's daughter owns the Big Chili Mexican restaurant. Lek is her name.

BF. Nope didn't check that one. But wanted to replace the Bridgestone originals - the previous set did 110,000 km and gave a very smooth ride and gave good handling. B5700 was a very good price for that tyre I think. I was offered cheaper tyres but.....  ATB

On Saturday the 21st I went to the same tyre dealer that Roger went to to get the same tyres size and make, 265/65-17 Bridgestone Duellers for our Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

Mrs KC came with me and has good negotiation skills, we where told the Bridgestone's where 5600.00 Baht each so better price than Roger's.
We where also sown the Maxxis tyres a lot cheaper about 4800.00 each I think, he also had Michelin tyres of the same size for 6000.00 each.

Mrs KC the starts negotiating and we get the Michilen's for 23,000.00 total for 4 new tyres. 24,000.00 minus 1000.00 for the 4 used tyres from our car. So far I am happy with the Michelin's ride and road feed back that I am getting. I have had Michelin's before in Canada and never had any problems with them. The tread has bigger annular rings across the surface to dissipate water better and are no more noisier than the Bridgesone's. I will check the wear after a few thousand Km.

Hi Kiwi and thanks for posting that. I'd have chosen Michelin but they didn't have them at the time.
Excellent price you got ! I need a battery soon (Toyota 2.4 turbo) and have no idea of the costs ?

You are very welcome Roger.

We had to replace the battery in the Pajero at the end of this April after it sat for 3 weeks, the car is only 2 1/2 years old so I thought WTF!! normally last 5 years in the west, but with the under hood heat here they do get cooked. We went to the Mitsy Dealer in Joh Ho and they NO Have battery, but said best place is across the road from Makro, they sell batteries and furniture (only in Thailand). Coming from Joh Ho keep on the service road past the lights by the V one hotel and as you round the next bend across from Makro they are there, look out for the batteries at the front of the store.

Again Mrs KC jumps in and negotiates a deal, I did not record the price in my financial software as it was a cash sale, but will make note of it any way. Make sure you get a rebate for the old battery, Mrs KC said we would take and sell the battery but they offered a discount as well.
I will ask the wife when she comes home tonight what the cost was, she can remember these things, I have to write them down LOL.

You guys are lucky.  My tyres (or tires) are Bridgestone Duelers 265-60-18.  These things run in the 8500+ range for one!

KiwiC. On the 204 into the City, about 1 km before the split, a small battery store did me a Bosch 105 amp hr sealed for life at B3000.
I had to wait 10 mins while he fetched a real one on his motorbike. They sat me down - bottle of water - fan for cooling.
Toyota quoted B4200 for 85 and B3400 for 80. Thanks.
