Go to the silk town of Pak Thong Chai. If you want to do that let me know and I'll suggest where. Mrs. saf has connections and may be able to get you a discount. No promises, mind.

About 20 minutes from The Mall by car.

Visit Top Cafe - what a good idea! If you go during a quiet spell the boss might show you the best places herself. Better still, come while the Silk Festival is still on and she might walk you around the silk booths and introduce you to her various friends in the trade. The last day is 15th, Thursday.

Top Cafe has some of the best food I've tasted in Thailand.  Do check it out of you're in the area.

The bus, if you don't want to drive. A taxi will get you to PTC but there are none based here. Even a tuk tuk is a rare sight. Go to the old bus station in Korat. The buses to PTC stop right in town. They usually report to the owner who lives near to Top Cafe so you might even be able to get a bus to the entrance.
