To be honest dodgeydave, if you want a taxi from the airport to Korat then I'd consider picking up/dropping off whoever, going upstairs to the top level where the local taxis for BBK do the drop-off/pick-up service and just try your luck with the average yellow and blue cab that's around, many will be game, I reckon.

Last time I did it was about 4 years ago and did Swampy to Korat for about 2,500 baht. OK, will be a bit more but most of the average taxi guys, if they are 'up-for-it' will go with the meter or give you a price around 3k or so baht these days I would have thought.

This is speculation but i would also guess that specific services and touts outside the main entrances will try to 'pull your trousers down' over the price.

Guess my advice is to head up to the local BBK yellow and blue taxi drop-off/pick-up point on the top floor that leads out to the roads etc, and you'd probably get a better deal.

However, some of the other experienced posters on here may have something to add and am happy to be stood corrected as it's been a while since I've done it.

 :cheers

Sorry, forgot to mention, if you are traveling from Korat to the airport and want to trim the baht on the trip then just take the Korat to BBk express from the main bus station and get off in Rangsit/Morchit etc and take a local cab to Swampy.

Cheaper and more of an adventure, then do the return as suggested in the previous post and you don't have to spend a fortune to do it.

Traveling alone use the loo before you get the taxi.or you luggage will be left alone if you stop on the way.

You have to pay for the express tolls.Normal procedure

Generally no Ddave, they don't have sat-nav, but any self-respecting taxi driver from BBK in a yellow and blue cab should know how to get on Mittrapharb Rd and speed up the thing to Korat.

Just make the deal before you get in the cab etc and remember the normal taxis are on the top floor of Swampy, go up/seek and you will find.

Short of that, if really want a 'cheap Charlie' way of getting home then take a taxi to Morchit bus station (that's the one for the northeast) and get on the express bus to Korat which will cost you about 200 bath to the bus station and then 300 baht to Korat.

If it was me, then I'd take the bus back to Korat and spend the difference on a night out on Sukhumvit Rd, with a hotel thrown in the day before returning, even if you have to extend the trip by a day.

However, that's the scoundrel within me talking.  :evilgrin

Another option is taking the airport shuttle to Don Muang and from there the train to Korat. Problem is though they're not running every 15 mins.
. . .
