I've found this website http://www.isaan-properties.com/
but can anyone suggest any others? I obviously want to shop around a little.

Best bet is to first rent a car or bike and drive round to see what areas you like, no point in renting a mansion to find it is surrounded by slum dwellings :)

Yes fair point, although Korat is a big place to drive around with just a blank canvas for ideas.
I can borrow my mates car so no problem there. I've heard U Sabaai is quite nice along with a couple of new ones out near the Airforce place. does anyone know where Suranarai Road is in relation to the mall? The mall is my only marker!

Hmmm.....an estate agents really would be a last restort IMO, agree with DD, rent a car or bike and just drive around the housing estates and other areas, you'll get to know the city better this way too. The rent will probably turn out to be cheaper if you do it on your own, ask a few friends about the current status of things.

You might want to check out whether there is a temple close by as that will interject with your peaceful mornings, for some reason they take great pleasure in annoying as many as possible with unnecessary sound.

Remember too that most people that rent are not professional landlords, might never have done it before and you are the first tenant. Deposits are often spent quickly and they haven't given any consideration to the concept of maintaining the property to an acceptable level. Usually you are paying in advance so make sure you don't pay the last months rent and tell them to take it from your deposit, that way at least you get it back, might be the only way.

Good luck.

When you're coming out from The Mall go left on Mitraparp until you see the old downtown and the city moat and an old city gate on your right, then it's the next big street to your left, leading also to the Dusit Princess. Suranarai Road runs all the way from Mitraparp to Choho intersection (A2). There are two universities along the road, Rajabhat and Rajamangala (Technology). Probably a good and lively area to live.

Thanks guys, appreciate the good friendly advice.
Was getting a little concerned about the old girl korat after reading all the arguments and mud slinging that goes on upon these pages.
By the sounds of it i'll probably need a translator to avoid signing up to something i didn't mean to! The wifes conversational Thai isn't too bad but often comes unstuck when in unfamilar territory. I found that out the hard way when she was 'conversing' with the doctors regarding a recent illness!

Thanks Posh, George? Sorry but I need a little more than that!
No She's English and by far the better Linguist. Not that I find it offensive but once again I was stereotyped into the expat divorcee, younger Thai wife category I feel! If I'm honest (my wife hasn't seen this site yet!!) I'm kinda envious of you guys living the life in Thailand with your younger often stunning partners! Saying that I've been with mine so longer she likes one of the family! Plus I admire your patience to cope with the language barrier. Respect if some of you learn the lingo.

Here's another property agency in Korat. They are agents too for home, vehicle, business and health insurance.

Property - Dave
Insurance - Joe
