New SUT fitness center Nakhon Ratchasima
« on: July 18, 2014, 10:14:56 PM »
Located on the SUT campus.  It's been open a few weeks now.  Hours are Mon-Fri 10am to 7pm.  That is supposed to change later.  Membership is 5,000 baht a year or 100 baht per day.  Lots of stuff at this place.

Weight room
Swimming pool
Racquetball courts
Food Court
Children's play area
Lobby
Restrooms with Sauna and lockers
Aerobics Room

Some of the stuff is not completed yet, so be patient.  The weight room is nice, but for some reason too many cardio machines imo.  The dumbbells only go up to 50 lbs which is plenty if you are doing arms, but not enough for chest presses for me.  I was told that heavier dumbbells have been ordered already.  There are some decent machines, and a nice smith machine so you can self spot yourself when doing certain exercises like squats.

Here are some pics I took today.

Thanks for this BF, great pics.

It looks as if they are expecting a large crowd.

Do they have any personal trainers?

Cheers KK

Hi KK.  SUT is Suranaree University of Technology.  Coffee Pitini restaurant is just before the gate on the left.  If you head out on the road towards the zoo (304) You'll come to an intersection with a stoplight AFTER you pass wing 1 with the F-86 plane out in front on display.  It's the intersection just as you pass the new PTT petrol station which would be on your right.  Turn right and go all the way down until you reach the SUT gate.  After you go through, turn right and then make a left.  You'll see a new building complex with flags out in front of it.  Here is a google placemark.

I met the dude who kind of runs the weight training area.  I believe he is a trainer of some sort.  His name is Chin and he's a very nice individual.  He let me have a go at the weights even though it wasn't opened yet.  He seems to know what he's talking about.  I used to lift heavily before I came to Thailand and still do now occasionally...(been waiting for a decent gym to open up). As for a "personal" trainer, I'm not sure about that.  I think there might be.  I'll find out for you and report back here.

Thanks for your help BF.... :wai

I was working out every day in Cambodia but then I had a heart attack, then surgery about two months ago, I feel ready to start again but easy does it.

It looks a very well equipped Gym.

Personal trainer was a wrong choice of words I really meant someone to supervise, which I think is important but just my opinion.

Cheers

Sorry to hear that KK.  I've attached an application form (PDF file) from the fitness center to this post.  It's all in Thai but I'm sure your Mrs can translate it for you.
