There is a small school near the Memorial Hospital on Suranaree road.  It is called KRT school and specialises in teaching Thai to foreigners.  The teacher, Usanee, is Thai but speaks good English, is very friendly and is pretty flexible with tuition hours.

You can find contact details at www.krtschool.com.

It varies depending on number on solo or group classes and number of hours of the course - I buy hours up front, with an 80 hours block working out at 160 baht per hour in a class of 2 people.

I've been studying for 8 months, twice a week, and can get by in everyday speech and read and write, albeit slowly.  I really wanted to learn to read quickly, so I spent half my lessons learning this, but the teaching is really flexible around what you want.  I've never really been good at languages, but I've enjoyed it a lot.

A set, year long, course of 4 days a week works out about 75 baht an hour, and prices increase all the way up to "pay as you go" solo courses at 400 baht an hour.

Pretty sure I've got this right - but best to get in touch to be sure.
