Why do you want to cook with a bomb?

I have an electric hob and oven at home. Gas in Thailand is mucky and dangerous. It's been known to wipe out a big market at Chong Chom.

If I ever have to fit a new kitchen again I would buy induction hobs, griddles and a table top oven. The induction hobs are amazingly quick. All of those items can be moved around or stored away.

Macro is the place for choice. Hobs and griddles less than THB2,000 each, ovens around THB3,000.

I also have a combination oven - microwave, grill and conventional oven. That works a treat too. Best buys are in Powermall in The Mall. Korat.

You're welcome!

There are other outlets for electrical goods in Korat but I find that the ones I mentioned are best. If you want something like a Siemens oven and hob and a good combination oven, go to Taifah.

One word of warning about dependency on electricity - power cuts are a hobby in Thailand. We have a charcoal BBQ on hand just in case. I'd rather put up with that or go to a restaurant than risk a big bang resulting from Lek-on-the-motorbike not connecting the new gas bottle properly.

Another advantage of electricity for cooking is that the locals rarely go near it. That makes cleaning a much quicker and easier job.  ::)

If you insist on gas, cookers are available almost everywhere and very cheap.

Taifah is opposite Klang Plaza 2. Always compare them with Powermall and Makro but Taifah has a better range of electric cookers. I haven't been there for a while so I don't know whether they sell induction hobs or griddles.

There are two more Taifah shops. On Chompol Road not far from Yamo, in the building where Pata Department Store used to be, (right before Siam Commercial Bank) is the biggest, I think it's called Taifah Electronic Plaza. That has the largest selection of household electronics in town. In the street from Yamo parallel before Night Bazar is another, called Taifah Electronic City.

Home Pro in The Mall also sell household electronics. I bought a combined stove (gas and electric) there.
. . .
