Are the thai's getting fatter

Are the thai's getting fatter, yes i think they are, what with KFC, french fries, and all the western food availabe at most outlets, no wonder why, but on saying that some thai foods are just as unhealthy as well, in Bangkok more so, where sweet fried food is on every street corner.

It may be the Colonel’s secret recipe, but gai yaang served up on with rice with dipping sauce and then washed down with a fizzy soft drink must have loads of calories. I'm a bit week willed when it looks so yummy, so i try not to look and say nooooo.

Last year, officials reported that the average Thai consumed about 26 teaspoons of sugar per day, hmm that's a lot of calories. the recommended amount is about 6 spoonfuls per day. The daily dose from sweet beverages, soft drinks averages 9 teaspoons, green tea a whopping 13 teaspoons, coffee 10 teaspoons

Not like in Western cultures, being over weight here isn’t one of those hush-hush things like back home, I know people here don’t mean it to cause pain but ... Once whilst in a pharmacy, a large fatish woman came in and the assistant blurted out, "Oh, why you so pom pui" I have tablets for that. Thats the way it is.

We live in a world where beauty is directly attributed to a tiny waist, oh! and a big bust.

So ‘chang noi’ Are the thai's getting fatter .....
