The shrine in the middle of the road - And no one will move it

In a village in udon thani as reported by there is a shrine in the middle of the road and no one will move it, wonder how it got there in the first place.

They say those who have disrespected it have met with violent death. The village headman tells the history of the village and the background to why the shrine is there. The shrine was in a different location years ago but following the death of people in a cholera outbreak it was moved to its present location that was just a dirt track at the time. So it looks like they built the road round it.

At a meeting about the shrine one man shocked villagers by pointing in its direction with his foot, which is not accepted in thai culture. After the meeting the man walked to his home and was killed by a ten wheel truck. Another man thought the shrine in the middle of the road was a stupid idea, he mouthed off about it and had his head flattened by a passing plough.

So now the villagers are too scared to mention moving the shrine. They say villagers that pray to the shrine get success and happiness.

I say let the shrine stay, what say you.

More from about the shrine in the middle of the road, they are reporting two fatal accidents and nine mysterious deaths have occurred so the villagers of Baan Nong Kung in Udon Thani would rather drive around a spirit house in the middle of the road than move it and risk doom themselves.

The spirit house is ridiculously placed on the main road of the village, decorated with elephant and horse sculptures. Some people have also bestowed it with Lao Khao and red fanta.

Apart from the two deaths reported in the above post. Last year, villagers did things that were against tradition, including killing a large animal and holding a funeral for a person who suffered a violent death at their home. Soon after, nine other people died mysteriously, making the total to eleven, sending the entire village into a panic.
