Rules for posting ads in this forum

Actually we don't have any rules yet. We'll find out by the time what needs to be suggested for optimal use or even regulated. Today I noticed the bumping of a sales ad after only 6 days. I would suggest not to bump a sales ad before two weeks have gone by first.

Johnnie - I don't want to be pedantic but the English word (as, maybe, opposed to the American word) for the past of 'to seek' is 'sought'.

No offence meant because in all other areas the site is great.

An Englishman abroad.  :salute

You might not believe, how long I was thinking over using "seeked" or "sought"! I decided for the common misconstruction "seeked", because I wanted to make this forum useful for all people, also non-native speakers of English like myself. It's a very tricky situation, when you have two words grammatically possible and only distinguished by the phonemes s ("s") and θ ("th"), but differing drastically in meaning. How many who learned English as second language do immediately understand the word "sought" and not confuse it with "thought", which would give a totally different meaning? Many people still do use or understand words by their sound mainly. Just look at all those Brits who mean "must have" and rather type "must of", a common misconstruction, but easily understood. Plenty on this forum do use it! Please don't feel offended by their "ignorance"! Most important is that the message gets understood the way it was intended.   :salute

Well Johnnie you maybe a 'non native speaker' of English but your English is 'pretty darned good' (which actually is an American phrase)  :salute :salute

And by the way I would never use the word 'ignorant' about another person just because I thought I knew more about something than they did.
