Well I'm not so sure. A Cadillac is quite expensive in Korat. Guns cost a fair bit too.  :hunter

It's not gospel in regard to this thread subject but not that far off. To be fair, it could be done for 50-60k baht a month and that is a reasonable figure. There are many that will say more and some that say you can 'skimp it' on less, and to be fair many do, but whether they are living a reasonably middle class life depends on how you class that.

It also depends on your situation and what 'expenses' you have, even if you forget the extended family crap.
How much do you drink?
Do you take massages with happy endings?
Do you think a middle class existence means you have to have a car and a house?
Do you go out to restaurants all the time or do you cook at home?
Does your Mrs or you have expensive tastes or shopping habits?

The list goes on and there are many variables. Many of the locals manage a Thai 'middle class' existence but they often spend nothing on anything that can't be seen by others and will save it all for impressing others with big ticket items.........which is a fake plastic approach imo.

I'd say about 50-60k baht is a reasonable figure and 80-100k baht and above then you're having a good old time with few worries unless you're too frivolous with a gold digging bitch as a wife.

50k baht a month equates into about US $1600 a month, so that means about $19,350 per year........so that info in the OP is basically saying in the terms of 65-70k baht a month.

Here, that (60k a month) would be comfortable if you've not got too many vices or commitments.

I suppose that's the issue here, Leb. What is a middle class lifestyle? Is it even possible to the full Western extent? Dinner parties chez nous with all the trimmings? Not that often. Also, 'Middle Class' must cover an income range and well as desired lifestyle so where do we out down the marker for a comparison?
