So which is the best hotel in Korat? Now obviously the Dusit Princess Korat is probably the best, but that comes at a price, so taking price into consideration and how little time is actually spent in a hotel on your holiday you get to vote for 2 choices, also guests can vote aswell, anyway taken from their websites is the following.

Korat Sima Thani Hotel

There are 265 elegantly  furnished guest rooms from Superior Deluxe to Royal Suite and each one is lavishly  decorated with Khmer style art for a most exotic ambiance. Each room has  individually controlled airconditioning system, private bathroom with hot and  cold water, colour television (plus cable and satellite TV), mini bar and  telephone (direct dial /IDD). Personal safes have also been installed in all  suites.

Which is the best depends on how rate comfort, price and location. Right in town there's a wide choice of hotels that are not expensive but some may be in need of a spruce up. Dusit and Sabai are out from the centre. Sabai is smart but a farang on his own may be offered only a top rate room.

If you don't mind a bit of a ride into town, the Korat Resort is, in my opinion, by far the best on offer. Good rooms, quiet location, good restaurant, superb buffet breakfast, swimming pool, golf range and bikes for hire.

Raya Grand is popular with some but offers only the too common Thai hotel poor excuse for an American breakfast. Up the street is a reasonable selection of restaurants.

Some like V1 which is within a short tuk tuk ride of Yamo.

My own favourite in town is Sima Thani. Very smart, a reasonable buffet restaurant, karaoke, massage and a 'friendly' bar (I'm told) around the corner.

I thought the Korat Sima Thani was the cheapest of the big hotels, ie around 400baht per night, am I mistaken?

4 figures? I think a Korat guesthouse thread is in order, I don't pay 4 figure sums in Thailand for hotels that I am just going to pass out drunk in, I mean all a hotel is for is dumping your stuff off, having a shower then your off out till its time for bed, wake up, shite and shower then out again, wonder where I got the figure 400baht per night from, must have dreamt it.

It seems that the Korat Sima Thani is the hands down winner in Korat for breakfast, although I had a nice Indian chicken tikka and naan bread for breakfast today and I bet they don't do that in their buffet

The Apart/hotel I stayed at for the majority of my stay in Korat was called the Bhumirak, unfortunately the business card is in Thai but it is located behind some new empty shop houses opposite the park which is on the same road as Korat railway station, so if you are looking at the railway station, go right and follow for appx 1 km, there is a big park on the left with a lake and what looks to be a display area for bands etc, a huge light tower dominates the centre, look on the opposite side of the road and you should see the hotel or sign pointing up the driveway behind the aforementioned empty shops.
