Visakha Bucha celebrations

Visakha Bucha Day is an important Buddhist day celebrated on the 6th lunar month's full moon days when Lord Buddha was born, became enlightened and left this world more than 2,500 years ago. This year, it falls on May 17.


Buddhists pay respect to the statue of Somdej Phra Buddhajarn To in Si Khiu district in Nakhon Ratchasima.

To commemorate this day, Buddhist monks in Nakhon Ratchasima, the Second Army Region, Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality, The Mall Nakhon Ratchasima and the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima Office will host a string of religious activities from May 1-June 5 at MCC Hall, Floor 3, The Mall Nakhon Ratchasima.

Participants may pay respect to five Buddha relics, make merit, practice medi tation every day and listen to sermons by well-known monks, such as Luang Phu Tong Kittikhano, Phra Paisal Visalo, Phra Maha Sompong Talaputto, Phra Kittisak Kittisaro and Phra Phayom Kallayano.

Atthapol Wannakit, director of the TAT's Nakhon Ratchasima Office, said participants can also visit the province's nine major temples and two religious sites. Among them are Wat Phra Narai, Wat Ban Rai Wat Sala Loi and the statue of Somdej Phra Buddhajarn To in Si Khiu district.
