So you've all seen the Thao Suranari Monument in Korat city center, the festival is 23rd March to 3rd April every year, so you have all the street parades and offerings of stuff to Buddha and that next month, but did you know the naughty vixen tempted the Lao invaders with rice whisky and sex?

Anyway a few facts for you, an Italian sculptor called Corrado Feroci made the mold for the statue to be cast, yep a farang, actually quite a few of the major Thai statues were made by farangs, even the stained glass windows in Hua Lamphong train station were made by a farang, think he was Italian aswell.

The monument was built for Khun Ying Mo in 1934 for her help in 1826, as the nasty Lao invaders were taking the Isaan peasants back to Vientiane as prisoners she hatched a plan of sex and whisky, history isn't sure what actually happened but as with all men whisky and sex is usually their downfall, so King Rama III promoted Lady Mo to 'Thao Suranari.
