Well, PR. Those pictures are a bit old. It was one of those Coyote bars. There a few around in Korat and all offer the same kind of entertainment. That particular one is near the police station.

Ok guys, newbie on the scene here, although pretty wordly wise and been to Thailand for a total of 7 months out of the last 2 1/2 years the above comments make for surprising reading.
In my opening hello, I said I had spent a pleasant month with a lovely girl (not miss world) she has a good job, earns 9000 baht pm struggles as they all do to make ends meet, she's over me like a rash for 4 weeks, I get home, e mail, sms, telephone & Skype all good, then wham she ask's me for a bit of help, not a lot, so I help, I am booked to go back in April but now trying to get any conversation out of her is like pulling teeth, I think I've been had over, I met her on a dating site about June time all going well now I'm home I think she getting her claws into someone else or working bars on the side, comments please without being to vitriolic, I mean, you think you meet a nice girl non P4P but get fucked over anyhow.

ie I have been with my girlfriend for around 15 years, I wouldn't dream of giving her a loan, if she needs money I give it to her, it is a gift with no strings attached, most of her family are well off and none of them own farm animals that may get sick, but many is the time where farangs will loan money, Thai's aint good at money management and will never be able to pay back the loan in the time frame they initially think they can, they aint going to win the lottery, this puts them in a bad position.

No family, no kids,doesn't smoke, drinks, but only ocassionaly. has little debt about 42,000 baht most of which will be paid off fairly soon any way, and I didn't loan the money I gave it to her but maybe she thinks it's a loan, thanks people I will make that clear to her.

I don't understand women all that well as it is,(will men ever !!) trying to get me head around a Thai one is twice as hard

Silverfox..if things go wrong ,in my experience its always the fault of the farang.Never give or lend money as you wont ever get it back. Choose your partner well as advised above. Drinking smoking swearing pigeon english :Tats etc may give you a clue

as tp money grabbing wenches but its not always the case.

Most Important thing to remember....The first time a Thai girl asks you for money is the time to bale out cos its gonna last forever.

Never ever ever give money until youre into a very soliid relationship or be fully prepared to lose it.

DD, there is no such thing as a loan in Thailand. Consider it a gift.

Silver, be careful of girls you meet on those sites. I know several people who have fallen prey to many of them. Keep in mind that you aren't the only person she is communicating with... she's going to leave all her options open for the best catch. I personally wouldn't have given her the money. She hasn't known you long enough to ask you for something like that. You can guarantee it's not for her, but probably her drunken Thai boyfriend she has on the side (the one she says is her "brother"), her parents, or a gambling habit. No way should she be asking you for this ridiculous amount of money.

For once, I do agree with Poshkid here.

Some guys whine about the money they invested because their only hope was getting something in return. Finding out about trust is getting something in return. For some there's more to loose than just money when they find out very late: they feel heart-broken for a long time. So the money is not so badly spent when you find out before you committed yourself too much.

And who of all the guys living happily in Korat didn't have unpleasant experiences they learned from first? For myself I'm absolutely sure I were off not nearly as well, if my first " endeavor" in a relationship with a Thai girl had lasted very long. Glad I found out fast. The money I 'lost' there was well worth spent for getting this second chance and then my wife of 19 years now.

dirtydog, you are correct sir, that is the total of her outstanding debt, no way would I give anyone 42000 baht,

and it was a bloody good month too,

To be fair to the girl she didn't ask for too much when I was with her, she had pawned some of her gold to fund her Uni course and as it was her birthday while I was there I volunteered to get some of it back, not expensive, silver don't do expensive.

Anyway as I said no tatts,no kids,no smoking, no swearing bar what she learnt from me, no brothers no sisters no family full stop, and I confirmed this with some her friends at the place she works at, big building with a cross on top near the Mall

Thanks for all your good honest replies and advice though and thanks for not flaming me for being a twat.

P.S I just found out why she's been so cranky, as a final project for her uni degree she was waiting on someone writing a computer programme for her, it is due in on Tuesday and only arrived this afternoon, now she has to work all weekend to finish the whole project. ouch

you wouldn't meet a girl in the west and dip your hands in your pockets in the first week or so would you? Yes I know Thailand is a developing nation blah blah but I've always earnt more than any of my western girlfriends but I didn't support them.
