Isaan Paparazzi

We’ve all heard of paparazzi, photojournalists buzzing like those little flies around celebrities to get a shot of them with their cameras. So you picture a movie star with a swarm of photojournalists with Canons around their necks and in their hands. No, they’re different in Isaan!

A few days ago  a young farang was brought along to my house by somebody else without me knowing about him coming. He wasn’t announced to come. When he came close to me he lifted his Blackberry right in front of my nose and without asking for permission or announcing it he took a close-up snapshot of me. First I asked him to immediately delete that and even thought of enforcing the deletion. But then I thought of how easy it is to recover a deleted file. I would have needed to destroy his whole memory card or better his whole Blackberry since I didn’t know whether he used the phone’s internal memory or the storage card. So I said to myself to let him get away with taking the photograph since they can be taken of me when I’m  in public all the time. Just my house isn’t public. Much later I thought of that I should have calmly said: “Why didn’t you ask me for a fan picture instead?”

I keep wondering what he wanted to achieve by his showing me that he has a picture of me now? That he is a great admirer of me?  ???

Probably some weird sexual fetish, although frenzied masturbating over a picture of an aging German is a bit beyond me, each to their own I suppose.

That's probably the answer. He certainly went to a lot of trouble to take a picture of you. Do you know him? He may have a history of bizarre behaviour so other people might be able to provide more information about him.

I would say that he was lucky and you must be a very reasonable and patient person. Some people might have put the camera down his throat or into an orifice more pleasurable to him.

I can always remember Stickman calling Korat a boring little place, seems as if he was way off the mark LOL

I had never met him before he came here. I still wonder why he did introduce himself in such an enigmatic way. ;)

There are many good things about Korat and many good people there too. As is usually the case, it's the negative and unwelcome news that gets most attention.

For all that Stick might say, I know that he's in Korat frequently and likes the place.
