German self-harms at his South Pattaya home

Medics rushed to a house at the Rungland Village in South Pattaya on Friday Afternoon following reports of a German who was self-harming.

They arrived at the house, occupied by Mr. Rolf R aged 74 and his wife Khun J aged 40. Mr. R, a retired journalist, was sitting on the floor of the kitchen and was covered in blood.

Medics identified a total of 25 cuts to his stomach which appear to have been self-inflicted. The knife was taken from the victim who was then attended to and then rushed to Hospital in a serious condition.

His Wife explained that he had come to Thailand when he retired from his work and intended to see out the rest of his days in the Kingdom. Recently he was diagnosed with Lung disease which caused him to fall into a deep depression. He mentioned on a number of occasions to his Wife that he wanted to end his life rather than suffer from the degenerative disease.

Anyone who goes to a psychiatrist should have his head examined.
