Aging Farang retirees in Thailand: Why not get off your bar stools and go back to school!

It could be ideal for the thousands of over 60s foreign residents in Thailand who it seems have very little to do except moan about where they live! And they might even learn a few things about the culture and the people and make some new friends their own age both male and female. Not to mention learn some improved Thai language skills into the bargain.

For some that would mean exposing what capabilities are really left. Now who wants to risk that, even risk loosing a dream by finding out yourself? ;)

Why not get off your bar stools

I know some guys that just go to the bar for some company as they are completely ignored or left alone at home, they are in a rut and can't get out of it so they turn to  :drink there is a guy lives down by me, must be well into his seventies, i pop in when i go past his house and he is always alone and so pleased to see someone to have a chat, sitting in the same chair alone looking at sat tv.

Where's the wife i always ask, Arr! she's gone out with the family or at the wat saying thank you for the good life she has.

As for capabilities, i can even reach the thank you button  ;)

I see this sort of thing all the time.  I do my share of bitching and complaining, but I try to find activities to keep myself busy or take up a new hobby with the wife.  I can think of a lot better things to do than reaching for the bottle, and believe me, I've been there.  I think with places like Korat or if you're out in the country somewhere, there really isn't that much to do except hang out at the pub, stay home glued to a TV, etc.

A very close friend of mine is in poor health.  What you've described, Thaiga, fits his profile to the T. I understand some folks become debilitated and such, and in cases like that, I think it should behoove our Farang community to reach out and try to help.  However, I will not support any of the loud mouth, back-stabbing drunks that seem to plague this town.  There seems to be more and more of them these days.

A hobby with the wife, that's great B/F  - One guys view or should i say Experience. Richard knows the bar scene, was happily married to a Thai, and loves Thai women still!. he says you must have some time on your own, if the guy is skint he won't have a pretty women on his arm. I kinda like this guy at least he is different, here is two of his vids which i think is worth a view.
