Tropical storms wreaked havoc to many northern and northeastern provinces yesterday damaging several hundreds of homes and blacking out large areas.

In Nakhon Phanom province, local authorities said the storm that struck the province was believed the worst in 10 years.

It swept through Nakhon Phanom province, forcing authorities to issue storm warnings.

Nakhon Phanom governor Adisak Thepeat  ordered all relevant agencies to accelerate assistance for all storm victims.

He said it was the biggest storm in 10 years to ravage Nam Kam sub-district destroying at least 70 houses in the area.

Meanwhile, in Lampang province, provincial authorities distributed roofing tiles and other building materials to 300 families whose houses were damaged by a heavy summer storm.

Even though residents had been given advanced warnings, the damage was still inevitable.

The storm also caused a major power blackout in Phrae province after strong winds took down a main power line.
