Sharp fall of temperatures in Northeast this weekend

A new round of strong cold front from China is moving down to blanket Thailand's upper north region this weekend, and is expected to cause turbulent weather that will bring heavy thunder rainstorms and sharp fall in temperatures.

The Meteorological Department said today the strong cold front has covered central China and is now moving down to cover the upper north region if the country from January 23-25.

Turbulent weather is expected when the cold front expands, starting from thunder storms and strong winds.

Temperatures will then fall sharply from 6-10 degrees Celsius in the country’s northeast region and spread later to other regions.

That's exactly what my phone app "Amber Weather" says.  Starting Sunday the 24th temperatures are supposed to drop big time.

Was suggested by a KF poster that China would soon devalue by 20% dragging Thailand with it. MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm ! That should help the £/Baht rate. Waiting then. Too early to fret much IMO.
BF I hope that temperatures do drop big time as my A/C in the TV room is knackered !
Apart from drought we seem to have been missing any significant 'cool' season so far.

Tell me about it, Roger.  I always sleep with the A/C on.  My electric bill was 7,000 baht last month!  We did have some guests stay with us and the kids like to sleep with the A/C on.  Would be nice if it were cool enough to not use the A/C.  I actually miss cold weather.  :-[

Looks like a sharp drop then a sharp rise:

Well thats whats needed to cool thing off.

Thai people have no grasp of - temperatures, but my wife does NOW, we are living in Ontario Canada, last night the temp went down to -20c and she said oh cold, she is getting used to -10 and 0c now.

We wont get any of the snow from the US storm, unfortunately, El-nino saw to that, we are about 50 cm less than normal for snow fall this year. But the skiing is good at the local hills.
Yes I love skiing, certified snow nut!!!!!

Thank's B/F - Food for thought

Amazing how different thailand is without the sun were always moaning about, imagine if it was cold like this all the time.
I wonder how many of us would of moved here. It's certainly easier to keep cool in the heat, than it is to keep warm in the cold.

And the soi dogs

Thaiga that's an amazing picture of the dogs. Reminds me of when we drove back at 7am from the North on Jan 6th. It was cold there then and when we got to the bottom of the farm track to join Highway 106, there were 2 clusters of folk around 2 flaming fires - bums to the flame in a circle. Two teams of Lam Yai pickers, probably Korean and Myanmar.
Here our 2 dogs have been hyper since the cold came - bouncing around all jolly instead of sleeping all day.
For me the cold came as a shock because it arrived overnight. From memory we had a night at 25C followed by a 36C day which then became 15C at night and 18C in the day. That's a large and sudden fall in temperatures.
Yesterday it was 12.5C in the morning.
Hard to get warm except for exercise and extra clothes - in the house the cooking gives a bit of a warm up but the bloody Toyota Pre-runner has NO heater - bizarre. The only black mark against Toyota for an otherwise wonderful machine.
How can you sell a vehicle without a heater - much needed in parts of Thailand, EVERY year. Bonkers.
Let's see what today brings then......

Hi Thaiga - yes definitely best to keep the dogs out of the house altogether - MUCH easier to keep the house clean etc. I once sat with them on a mat inside the front door during a terrible thunderstorm and rain, but now they won't even cross the threshold. Our dogs are just 'bush' dogs same as soi dogs and they survive ok outside. ATB
