Drought-hit villages having to buy household water

At least 3,000 households in nine villages of Nakhon Ratchasima’s Phimai district are facing a dire shortage of water for household use as the area around their communities continues to dry up.

Water levels in the Lammat river, that originates in Buri Ram’s Lam Plai Mat district and passes through tambon Bot in Phimai district, have fallen dramatically. Some sections are so dry people can walk on the riverbed. The river is the major source for water in nine villages in this tambon.
